CALLIGRAMME PROJECT

Image
My work reflects how I feel about my future and where I am today. The sun has always been a significant factor in my life as I love being outdoors. That was not possible when I lived in Maine. It was cold and dark there. So, the sun motivates me and gives me the energy to succeed. Also, I chose the sun because of its symbolism. In this case, the sun symbolizes a bright and happy future ahead of me. As you can see above, all the rays have something written within them; these are some of my values. And closer to the center, we see a statement showing where I am today. The way the letters are dragged down represents my ties to my past. The rays represent the future, and the sun's core represents the present. My inspiration was my letter to myself. In 20 years after reading through it, I felt a sun would be a great way to represent it. I used multiple tools to complete this project; for the most part, I used the shape, pen, and text tools.  Planning   Hey Ava, 20 years from now! W...

Calligramme Sketch and Letter

Hey Ava, 20 years from now! We are currently pursuing our bachelor's degree in marketing at the beautiful.  University of Tampa. It's projected that I will graduate a year earlier than I was supposed to in 2026, which is exciting. I cannot wait to see what our future holds. I hope to visit the world and explore new places. I could not be happier with where life has taken me so far, so I don't doubt that the future will be any less than excellent. When I get asked what I want to do/be in the future, I don't know the answer to that; I choose to live more so in the present day. However, after I graduate from college, I plan to spend a summer abroad and see what else the world holds. It is still a dream of mine to work in digital marketing remotely, allowing me to live anywhere I'd like to, whether that is backpacking through Europe or living in a van and traveling across the States. Most importantly, I really hope that I have a healthy, happy family in the future. Fa...

Ai HW 1

Tutorial #1:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NBKRywEbNs I found this video very insightful as I began learning the ins and outs of Adobe Illustrator. Throughout this video, I discovered the basics of where everything is located on the platform and how to use the simpler tools. After watching this video, I will struggle the most with the pen tool as so many tips and tricks go along with it, but it will eventually click. After learning that there are shapes, I am confident in creating a logo later in this course. I found it interesting that he showed us how to align not only one shape but the two shapes together and ensure they are perfectly centered.  Tutorial #2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jckXcbad9zw This tutorial was exciting as I saw firsthand how the pen tool can work to change a logo completely. This logo started as just an essential arial font C, and the artist was able to create this colorful piece of art from it. I like how they began with the outline of a basic...

Internet, World Wide Web, Wifi and Bluetooth

Internet and World Wide Web For something we use daily, only a few people know about all the complicated systems that go into our everyday use of cellphones, computers, etc. The first is the Internet; what is it? The Internet is a global network for all electronic devices. Computer scientists Vinton Cerf and Bob Kahn created the first protocols that today we call the Internet. The official birthday of the Internet falls on January 1, 1983. At first, government researchers used the Internet to provide information and resources. Now, the Internet is used to find information quickly, reach people all around the globe, and so much more.  The World Wide Web (WWW) is a system of interconnected public websites that can be reached through the Internet. A British scientist, Tim Berners-Lee, created the World Wide Web in 1989. Initially, the WWW was used for scientists to communicate between universities and institutes globally with an automated system. This differs from today; today, we use...

About Me

Image
Hey Everyone!  I'm Ava Pratt, and I grew up in a small town in Maine, about an hour north of Portland. This is my second semester at UT, but I am technically a sophomore. My "hobbies" include traveling outdoors and exploring new places. It has been an all-time dream of mine to work remotely doing digital marketing and travel the world.  As a marketing major, I am excited to take this course as it directly correlates with many things I will do throughout my career. I have never taken any digital media class, so this is new. I am excited to learn how to use software such as Adobe and other creative platforms, as they are good tools to have before entering the marketing/advertising field. Sometimes, I struggle with creativity, so I look forward to being pushed outside my comfort zone.  A little fun fact about me is that once I realized that marketing might be a path that I'd be interested in, I reached out to a local advertising agency in Maine called Rinck. They offered...
